Gay Jensen invites you to take a close look at a featured artwork: “Magic Mop – It Cleans While You Dream.”  Gay created “Magic Mop – It Cleans While You Dream” for the juried show Domestic Arts – Between Functional and Fine at the Sequim Museum & Arts Center in Sequim, WA in 2007. 

Subsequent to the Sequim Museum show, "Magic Mop" was exhibited in the "All Things Not Quilted" show at the La Conner Quilt and Textile Museum in La Conner, Washington, January-March 2009.
Artist Statement

“Magic Mop—It Cleans While You Dream”

Like most women I know, I have a hundred things I’d rather do than clean my house, but I like my house to be clean. “Magic Mop — It Cleans While You Dream” was inspired by this essential dilemma. It epitomizes my desire to spend my day making art ( yes it took many days to make this piece!), go to sleep, and wake up to a house magically cleaned while I dreamed about the art I’d make the following day.  I love that this piece is totally impractical — made of silk for crying out loud! — and yet its shape implies functionality.

Materials/Techniques: Woven, dyed, painted silk embellished with beads; painted wood.
